The government’s contract with GPs covers medical services to NHS patients. In recent years, more and more organisations have been involving doctors in a whole range of non-medical work.  Sometimes the only reason that GPs are asked is because they are in a position of trust in the community, or because an insurance company or employer wants to be sure that information provided is true and accurate.


Requests will be triaged by one of our Clinical Team; the charge will be established and a member of our Clinical Support Services team will then get in contact.  If the GP Partners are happy to proceed you will be contacted within 10 days to make payment.  The aim is to complete your report within 20 working days from this date. 


For your information, payment can be made either by cash or cheque only at Epping and Waltham Abbey.

Why does it sometimes take my GP a long time to complete my form?

Time spent completing forms and preparing reports takes the GP away from the NHS medical care of his/her patients. GPs are very busy with the clinical care of patients and paperwork takes up an increasing amount of their time.


Unfortunately in the past we have completed reports and forms before payment has been made, but have sadly found there to be too many occasions when the doctor has given up the time to do the work but the fee has not been forthcoming. The receptionists have been asked to collect the fee before the report or form can be completed. There will be no exceptions - please note payment can only be made by cash or cheque.

Currently we do not offer non-NHS Medical Examinations at the practice. If you have been asked to undergo a medical examination, we are happy to facilitate this by providing you with a copy of your full medical records and signposting you to a local service provider for this.

In order to request a full set of your medical records you will need to make this request in writing detailing your name, address and DoB. This request will be completed within 25 working days of your request being received. You will then be contacted by a member of the Clinical Support Services team to arrange collection. You will receive your medical records in a sealed, signed and stamped envelope.

We advise that you do not book your medical examination until your medical records are ready for collection.
